We have taken our first delivery of Kenneth Cole watches; another exiting new range added to our already impressive watch portfolio.

The Kenneth Cole story started in the 1980′s in midtown Manhattan, and really goes to show what Kenneth Cole is about; Ingenuity, innovation and resourcefulness.

Kenneth Cole wanted to open a shoe store in midtown Manhattan, but this would be very expensive for a fledgling company. He came over to Europe to design his range of shoes and had them manufactured, then went back to America to sell them. However Kenneth Cole knew he needed to showcase his products in midtown Manhattan where he would be able to get as much exposure for his products quickly, to not run in to the cash flow problems many new companies face when they start-up.

Kenneth Cole knew an expensive showroom would be out of the question, so he came up with the idea of borrowing a friend’s trailer and parking it in Midtown Manhattan as a portable showroom; of course this was not going to be as simple as that. After Kenneth Cole contacted the Mayor’s office it became very clear that the only way he was going to get a parking permit for the truck, is if he was either a film production or utilities company.

Kenneth Coles next decision would prove to be incredibly resourceful and the making of one of the most well known designer labels around today. Kenneth Cole went back and changed his letter head from Kenneth Cole .Inc to Kenneth Cole Productions, applied for a permit to shoot a full motion film in Midtown Manhattan called ‘ The Birth Of A Shoe Company ‘ and the rest as they say is history. He hired the film equipment and used his models as actresses and film crew and went on to sell all 40,000 pairs of shoes from the back of the trailer in two and a half days!

To this day Kenneth Cole Productions name still lives on as a reminder and testament to the resourcefulness and innovation that started the company over 20 years ago.

Since then Kenneth Cole has expanded his designer range to the clothing and accessories industry including his modern, clean lined designer watch range.
