The Swiss watch market has seen a huge turn around in recent years, with exports of mechanical watches in particular rising as never before over the last 20 years or so. Interestingly, exports are increasing in value faster than they are in volume, giving a clear indication that the market is healthily able to sell more complex, and more expensive watches.
Rising demand puts strain on production of course, and as a result some producers have been going further afield than ever before to purchase components. So a “Swiss Made” watch is typically coming with a smaller percentage of it’s components actually produced in Switzerland. This puts a strain on what exactly “Swiss Made” actually means, hence the FH (Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry) are trying to increase the strictness of the guidlines used to define what a Swiss Watch actually is. In the future, it may become a requirement that 80% of the components in mechanical (Automatic Watches) are of genuine Swiss origin, which adds value to the reputation of the Swiss Watch Industry.
A newer definition, “CASP” (Certified All Swiss Parts) is in use, giving buyers assurance of watches made in Switzerland, from all Swiss components, but pressures from the rest of the world, which is increasingly producing movements of better and better quality all the time is without doubt pressurizing whether or not “Swiss Made” can survive with it’s reputation moving into the future.

We’ve now got eight Wave Ceptor watch models from Casio available. These remarkable watches synchronise their time with Radio stations that use Atomic Clocks for the ultimate in timekeeping accuracy.
Using an Atomic Clock to regulate means these watches should not lose or gain more than one second in, would you believe, a million years. This is timekeping accuracy on a totally new level.
A lot of the models have dual analogue/digital displays, offer World Time, Stopwatch, Backlight and many other features.
